The PTA's major fundraiser this year is called Powered By Lightning! This fundraiser is meant to make a BIG impact without all the fuss of traditional, sales- or event-based fundraisers.

Our Goal

To enhance the Lufkin experience for all!

Your donations will support Lufkin students, teachers, and staff, through:

Field Trips and Co-curricular Programming
Teacher Grants for Curriculum Enhancements
Teacher Appreciation Activities
School Supplies and Other Student Supports

Important Details

What is our fundraising goal? $25,000
What is the deadline to give? There's no deadline! This fundraiser will be live year-round. One thing we should mention: Donations made earlier in the year will allow the PTA to offer more support to our students and staff throughout the year.
Is my donation tax deductible? Yes! After your donation, you will receive a thank you email containing the Lufkin PTA Tax ID.
My company offers donation matching. How do I get my gift matched? Great! Please reach out to our treasurer, Melissa Collins (lufkinPTAtreasurer@gmail.com) to make it happen.

Did you know ...

LRMS draws from neighborhoods throughout Apex, Holly Springs, Cary, and Raleigh, with our students coming from 28 different Elementary schools. Our community is socioeconomically diverse: more than 30% of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. PTA fundraising allows us to provide resources that make the school experience enriching and equitable for every student.

Why No-Fuss?

All Donations Benefit Lufkin Students & Staff!

All proceeds go directly to our programs. Instead of hiring a company to run a big event (and losing close to half of our proceeds), direct giving allows us to pocket every dollar that is donated.

We're All Included

Our goal is full participation by all of our students, in whatever way that you can. Instead of individual prizes, we’re planning community-wide celebrations based on certain milestones.

Less Is More

Schools in our area raise 2x as much money through this kind of fundraising, compared with sales or event-based efforts! Our goal is to make a big impact without taking our focus off of the real reason students and teachers are here: to teach and to learn!

Will there be other fundraisers?

Yes, you will still hear about a few other activities – some that have become tradition for our students, and others that are tied in with the school program. However, this is a way for busy students and families to make a real difference without a lot of extras.

Does my child have to participate? Do I have to donate?

You’re under no obligation to participate in this or any other school fundraiser.

Are there other ways to support Lufkin students and staff?

Absolutely!

Volunteer with the PTA
Join (or Chair) a PTA committee
Join the Cafeteria Crew, to give teachers an occasional break from lunch duty
Take a shift at the Book Fair (coming soon -- date TBD)
Help out at a dance or other event
Follow us on social media, and spread the word about upcoming volunteer opportunities!
