Letter From the President

I’m honored to serve as President of the Lufkin Road Middle School PTA. On behalf of the entire PTA board, welcome! A special hello to those who are new to our school — this is my family’s fourth year at Lufkin, and I’m so proud to be part of this community!

You will find that we are a uniquely diverse group at Lufkin. We come from 41 different elementary schools and live in cities and neighborhoods all across Wake County! I believe our diversity is a huge part of what makes Lufkin so special. It also means we need to make an extra effort to build a strong, connected school community. Our staff works hard to create a positive environment for every student, and they count on our support to make it happen. 

As a PTA, we partner with the teachers and staff to help build community and advocate for the education and well-being of our students. Our mission is to create a healthy and enriching environment at Lufkin so that every student can thrive. 

This can only happen with YOUR help! Throughout the year we:

     💃  Help host 2 socials (dances) per grade level, as well as a Fall and Spring festival

     ⚡  Reward positive behavior with a weekly BOLTS cart (ask your student!)

     ✏️  Provide grants to teachers to ensure they have the tools they need to educate well

     😍  Provide funds for campus beautification and enhancements

     🍎  Thank our teachers and staff with lunch coverage and meals

     🫵  And more!  Volunteers play a pivotal role in all of these. 

This year, we’re excited to launch new initiatives, including a food pantry program and our first parent-to-parent newsletter, The PTA Pulse.

Let’s be honest. Middle school is hard. Our children are growing fast and may not need us in the same way as they did in elementary school, but our involvement in this stage of life is crucial to their development. I find so much joy in hearing a middle schooler say “I had a good day at school today”. I’m excited about the impact we can make when we join together.
